I've been making art my entire life. I was fortunate to grow up in a creative household, as my mother is a professional artist. I used to go into her studio and watch her paint or sketch or throw clay pots. She always encouraged my siblings and me to create things.

It wasn't until much later in life that I followed my mom's footsteps into the world of art. Several years ago I started taking art classes at the Indianapolis Art Center in Abstract & Non-Objective Art. Guess who my instructor was? Yup, my mom. Although she retired from a lifetime of teaching after I had taken her classes for a couple years, I continued to study under other instructors at the art center, as well as numerous in-person and online workshops with nationally known artists.

I enjoy looking back over the years and seeing how my style has evolved into what it is today. My art has evolved from realistic, to folk art, to abstract and non-objective art, to my current mixed-media style of whimsical, stylized women and other images. I hope to continue to evolve and grow as an artist by painting and creating on a consistent basis.

I'm happy I've had the opportunity to continue to carry the torch for my mom, and hope to one day be as good of an artist as she has been her entire life. I'm blessed beyond measure than both of my daughters are also artists, so they too carry a piece of her into the future with them.
